The challenge

The client came to Devspace with a clear product vision and an early-stage application. They needed a team that could take ownership of the full execution — engineering, design, and technical leadership — and bring the product to a level of quality and performance that matched the concept.

The idea itself was strong: a gamified mobile app for dog owners built around daily micro-learning - short, science-backed lessons and quiz challenges designed to improve owners' understanding of dog behaviour and deepen the bond with their pet. The market for mobile pet education is growing fast, and the founder understood it well. What they needed was a team that could execute the product at the level the concept deserved.

Full-stack platform build

We took full ownership of the engineering stack — architecting and building a production-ready mobile platform designed for the demands of a content-driven, daily-use product. Daily quiz delivery, streaks and gamification mechanics, user profile and progress tracking, and a content management layer for certified trainer material. Built to perform, built to scale.

UX/UI design from the ground up

We took the product from concept-level wireframes through to a fully realised mobile interface — information architecture, interaction design, visual identity applied across the app, and a UI system built to support the daily-game loop the product depends on. Design and engineering worked in parallel throughout, not in sequence.

Technical leadership and delivery structure

The project needed senior technical leadership close to the work: someone who could make architecture decisions, maintain quality standards, and keep delivery moving. Devspace provided that function, bridging product vision and engineering output throughout the build.

Gamification and engagement mechanics

The app is built around a daily game loop - fresh 60-second quiz challenges every morning, streaks that build habits, and a sharing mechanic that lets users celebrate their dog's personality. We designed and implemented the gamification layer - points, streaks calendar, and the engagement mechanics that give users a reason to return every day.

The outcome

The product shipped — a live mobile application available on iOS and Android, structured around a daily habit loop, and built to scale. The app delivers science-backed dog behaviour content from certified trainers with 20+ years of experience, packaged as quick daily challenges accessible to any dog owner regardless of prior knowledge. The gamification layer — daily quizzes, streaks, personality sharing, and upcoming multiplayer leagues — positions it squarely in the fastest-growing segment of the pet app market. The client now has a platform they control, a design system that scales with the product, and a technical foundation capable of supporting the roadmap ahead.
