SportAI is an Oslo-based B2B sports technology company building a cloud-based AI engine that processes video recordings to analyse athlete technique in real time. Using computer vision, machine learning, and biomechanical data, the platform compares player movements against thousands of athletes - including professionals - and delivers structured, actionable insights via API. Clients range from coaching platforms and sports federations to broadcasting companies and equipment brands.
The engineering challenge behind this kind of product is significant. Real-time video analysis at scale requires a rare combination of skills - deep computer vision expertise, production experience with ML pipelines, and the ability to handle live streaming data with the precision and latency requirements that sports contexts demand. These profiles are among the hardest to hire in the European market.
As an early-stage company scaling fast - with investor backing including Magnus Carlsen and a $1.8M seed round in 2024 - SportAI needed flexible access to senior AI and computer vision engineers who could extend the core team on demand, without the delays of a conventional hiring process.

Senior AI and computer vision engineers, embedded in SportAI's core team on a flexible basis.
We identified and placed engineers with hands-on experience in computer vision and machine learning applied to video analysis - including real-time processing of live streaming data. These are profiles that rarely appear in standard hiring pipelines, and that most engineering teams cannot source quickly through conventional recruiting.
Our engineers embedded directly into SportAI's core team - working on the AI engine that processes video, analyses player movements, detects key actions, and produces the structured JSON output that client platforms integrate via API. Including implementation on large-scale, complex projects where precision and latency are critical.
SportAI's model requires flexibility - the ability to scale engineering capacity up or down based on project demands and business stage. Our engagement model provided exactly that: senior engineers available when needed, without the overhead and timeline of permanent hiring.
SportAI gained access to the specific engineering depth their platform required - at the moment they needed it, without a six-month hiring process. Engineers embedded in the team contributed directly to the AI engine's ability to process, analyse, and structure sports video data at scale. The engagement supported SportAI through a pivotal growth phase - including their $1.8M seed round in August 2024 and the signing of their first commercial contract. The flexibility of the model meant the team could scale engineering capacity in line with business demand. The AI in sports analytics market is projected to reach $29.7B by 2032. SportAI is positioned to capture a meaningful share of it - and having the right engineering capacity at the right moment is part of how early-stage companies make that happen.
